Kevin Hart takes legal action on YouTuber Tasha K over extortion

Kevin Hart, the popular actor and comedian, has filed a lawsuit accusing notorious YouTuber LaTasha Kebe, also known as Tasha K, of attempting to extort him with a scandalous interview featuring his former assistant. In the lawsuit, Hart alleges that Kebe demanded a substantial sum of money to prevent the interview from being made public.

According to court documents, Kebe interviewed Miesha Shakes, who had worked for Hart from 2017 to 2020, in November 2023. During the interview, Shakes reportedly made false and defamatory statements about Hart. Following the interview, someone associated with Kebe allegedly contacted Hart’s team and threatened to release the interview unless Hart paid a ransom of $250,000. The threat included warnings that the interview would damage Hart’s reputation, involving details about his marriage and business affairs.

Kebe then uploaded a teaser for the interview, where she and Shakes allegedly highlighted the supposedly salacious and damaging nature of the content as a threat to Hart for not paying the ransom. The teaser reportedly included a statement from Kebe, specifically warning that “when you don’t pay, we have to get money by any means necessary.”

In response, Hart’s team contacted the police and sent Kebe a cease and desist letter, reminding her that Shakes had signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement and a Confidentiality Agreement while working for Hart. Despite the legal warnings, Kebe allegedly released the full interview on her subscription-based website on December 22.

The interview included various allegations against Hart, such as claims of a gambling problem and infidelity. Hart is now suing both Kebe and Shakes for extortion and invasion of privacy. Additionally, he is suing Shakes for breach of contract and defamation, and Kebe for intentional interference with contractual relations.

In the lawsuit, Hart highlights Kebe’s history of posting defamatory content about celebrities and other high-profile individuals, including Cardi B.

Extortion and Invasion of Privacy Allegations

The heart of Hart’s lawsuit revolves around the allegations of extortion and invasion of privacy. Extortion involves the act of obtaining something, such as money, through force or threats. In this case, the alleged threat to release damaging content unless a substantial sum is paid constitutes extortion. Invasion of privacy, on the other hand, refers to intrusions into one’s personal life, and Hart claims that the release of the interview without his consent violates his privacy.

Breach of Contract and Defamation

Hart’s legal action also includes charges of breach of contract and defamation against Miesha Shakes. The breach of contract claim is based on Shakes allegedly violating the Non-Disclosure Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement she signed while working for Hart. Defamation involves making false statements that harm a person’s reputation, and Hart claims that Shakes’s statements in the interview fall into this category.

Intentional Interference with Contractual Relations

LaTasha Kebe is accused of intentional interference with contractual relations. This legal claim suggests that Kebe intentionally induced a breach of contract between Hart and Shakes by publishing the interview, thereby interfering with the contractual relationship between Hart and his former assistant
