The aftermath of Arouri’s assassination unfolds against the backdrop of continuous exchanges of rocket and artillery strikes between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanon-Israel border since Hamas’s attack inside Israel on October 7. Over 100 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in these exchanges, leading to the displacement of over 23,000 residents in southern Lebanon.
